Looking for people...

I'm not sure who is around right now but I have a question for you: I am looking for about 5 ish people who are 100% beginners at fitness and health, and want to work together. Like haven't worked out in at least a year, most workout programs are more discouraging than anything because you can barely get through day 1, seriously just starting. Do I have anyone like that here!?! Can you comment so we can connect

PiYo!!!

So I recently became a certified PiYo instructor; and SUPER happy about that.  What is PiYo, you may ask?

Like Yoga? Like Pilates? Is your body worn out from the high impact work outs you've been doing? PIYO combines Yoga and Pilates for a body sculpting work out!!

I will tell you, I was so sore ALL over the day after the training class.  And then I did a practice class at home...goodness, parts of me where hurting I didn't know COULD hurt!  It was a great feeling.  So, when Beachbody announced that they were releasing the PiYo home version, I had to get it.  I am patiently waiting for it to arrive in the mail.  :-)

I started this blog to keep track of my weight loss, but to be honest, I have only been able to step on the scale once every 3 months when I go to the doctors office for my asthma meds.  And although the number isn't moving, I feel myself getting stronger, and not needing the asthma meds as much as I did when we lived in Alaska.

So, if you are interested in PiYo, please send me a message, comment on this blog.  Get in touch with me someway.  I would love for you to be on my team.

New Year, New Me

Wow, it has been a while since I have written a blog.

I guess I will start with the goals.  I have written two different goals; long-term for 2013 and goals for January.

January's Goals:

Since December 2012 did not end on a pleasant note (fitness wise...with a gain of 2.5 pounds for the month) I am sort of not sure where to start.
I guess I will start with the most obvious...
1) I will LOSE 6 pounds this month
2) I will STOP Drinking soda
3) I will start eating clean
4) I will exercise 4 days a week
5) I will not weigh in daily! - -biggest weakness
6) I will STOP drinking alcohol - I LOVE my burbon and coke...
I am starting off the new year and new month optomistic!  If I lose 6 pounds a month, I will have my goal weight by June 1!

2013 Goals:
This is going to be for my LONG term goals, in addition to the monthly goals I post.
In 2013, I will...
1) Get to my goal weight of 130 - a loss of 29 pounds
2) Get my CPA and/or Certified Internal Auditor designation
3) Go back to school to get my Tax or Business law degree
I know these are not all fitness related, but they are all my goals for the year.

I need to continue blogging to help me write out my thoughts...I feel that I was more accountable when I was blogging.  I am saddened that I didn't lose more weight, but since I have started losing weight, I have lost 14.5 pounds for 2012.  This is a good thing.

I really like the 10-minute traininer program that I got back in October, and I need to get back to using it!

Here is to a new year and a new ME!  Here is to a new year and and new YOU!

Already October..

It is already October, and I realize I didn't make my goals for September...so I will create new goals for October.

From my FB page http://www.facebook.com/Tryintogetfit?ref=tn_tnmn.

Ok, I didn't do so hot with my goals last month, but that doesn't mean I give up!  Nope!  New Month; New Goals!
1)  Lose 5 pounds
2) Work out 5 days a week
3) eat more fruit
4) 5 minute plank
I'm sticking with the same principle, but a little lighter on the numbers.  I think I was overwhelmed with the original September goals and that didn't help me.  And I'm going to get to the 5 minute plank.
I will keep everyone posted on how I'm doing.

I spent the last week in sunny Cali, and the morning after I get home to Alaska, there is snow on the ground!  How crazy!  Winter is coming and I need to really get motivated and reach my goals.

Anyway...while I was in sunny Cali, I worked out, used the weights, and weighted myself with the scale at the hotel.  There was such a HUGE difference between the two umbers...just goes to show the number doesn't mean anything. I officially lost 1 pound the last two weeks, but it is a loss, and not a gain, so ill take it.  In an effort not to concentrate solely on the number on the scale, I pulled down some jeans from the closet that I have been hoarding a pond guess what, they FIT! They are a little snug, but Incan zip them, and they FIT!  Also, I think resizing my wedding ring will be a necessity soon.

Well, I think that catches me up, sorry for being MIA, but life happens.  Happy October to everyone.

It's kind of fuzzy...

...the scale that is.  I weighed myself the other morning without my glasses (or contacts) and it took a bit for me to focus and see the number on the scale.  Then it hit me.  I'm focusing too much on the number.  I have lost weight, inches; I have gained muscle and strength.  My wedding rings are loose and I don't have to struggle to take them off, or put them on any more.  I am down a pant size, and that is getting big.  I need to focus on what is really important...ME, not the number on the scale.

I might not be super consistent with the exercise, I might "cave" into cravings, but I am still a healthier me than I was 3 months ago.

My hubby asked me one day "If you had the body measurements (clothes size) you wanted, would you care about the number on the scale?"  I had to think about it...and No, I don't think I would care about the number on the scale if I was the size I know I can be.  That is what I need to aim for, not a number on the scale that can't tell me if I am healthy or not.

Remeber, it isn't about the number on the scale, it is about how you feel.
